AK-47 Strain Information
AK-47 is an F1 hybrid from Dutch seed bank Serious Seeds. Created in 1992, its exact lineage remains secret, but seed bank owner and breeder Simon says it’s roughly a 65:35 Sativa/Indica hybrid of Colombian, Mexican, Thai, and Afghani descent. Serious Seeds carries both regular and feminized AK-47 seeds and reports a strong, fruity scent from the strain, coupled with a powerful, long-lasting “Indica” high. AK-47 has won 16 awards, including 1st Hash at the Barcelona High Life Cup in 2005, 1st Sativa at the Toronto Treating Yourself Expo in 2011 and 3rd Hybrid at the 2011 High Times Cannabis Cup.
It is a Sativa-dominate hybrid with bright white coloring. Despite its violent name, the strain imparts a very mellow feeling and can even leave one stuck in a state of “couch lock”. It also leads to increased creativity. For the most part, however, AK-47 will leave you feeling uplifted, peaceful and euphoric. Many people enjoy using it while listening to music. Outside of dry mouth and eyes, the strain can also cause users to feel paranoid and sometimes dizzy. Some users also experience minor headaches.
AK-47 Strain Relaxing Effect
Many users take advantage of the strain’s relaxing effect to relieve stress and anxiety. Others use it to take the edge off their chronic pains and aches. Insomniacs take 1-3 hits approximately an hour before bedtime to induce relaxation. They report an increase in the number of restful nights following this routine.
Those suffering from bipolar disorder, depression and other mood disorders use this strain to help relax and regulate their mood. The strain is also used to increase appetite as well as ease nausea and vomiting.
AK-47 is a strain with a strong lineage that may have begun in the post-war 1970s as the Thai and Afghanistan cross. However, AK-47 itself did not come into existence until 1992. The strain underwent a rework in 1999 so that plants could produce uniform seeds.
Four strains were used to create AK-47: Colombia (Sativa), Mexico (Sativa), Thai (Sativa) and Afghanistan (Indica). Genetically speaking, AK-47 is sixty-five percent Sativa and thirty-five percent Indica. Its THC levels stay close to average. Its CBDs and CBNs, however, can be as high as 1.5%.
AK-47, also known as “AK,” “AK47” or “AK 47,” is a slightly sativa dominant hybrid strain (65% sativa/35% indica) created through crossing the classic Colombian X Mexican X Thai X Afghani strains. This infamous strain is famous for its one-two cerebral effects that will leave you feeling buzzy for hours on end. The high starts almost as soon as you exhale, beginning as a cerebral lift that offers a boost of the spirits and an influx of buzzy euphoria. You’ll find conversations come easily as your mind flies higher and higher into happiness and your body settles into a state of light relaxation and ease. With these effects and its high 13-20% average THC level and 0-1% CBD level, AK-47 is often chosen to treat those suffering from conditions such as chronic stress or anxiety, depression, chronic pain and headaches or migraines. This bud has a sour yet sweet flowery earthy flavor with a lightly spicy exhale that intensifies the more that you toke. The aroma is very similar, with an earthy and herbal overtone that’s accented by flowery spices. AK-47 buds have oversized spade-shaped minty green nugs with lots of thick orange hairs and a coating of frosty amber crystal trichomes.
